On a mission to make responsible consumption easy
On a mission to make responsible consumption easy
Did you know that it takes 700 gallons of water to make a t-shirt?
That's more than what you drink during 2.5 years.
Despite that, on average, clothes are only worn seven times before being disposed.
Does this make sense to you? Not to us.
It's time to rethink the way we consume fashion, and we are here to help 💚
Hola!
I'm Maria Burgos and I founded this company after a personal frustration when I started my sustainable journey in fashion.
I'm originally from Venezuela, so I love to eat arepas (If you haven't tried them, I recommend them!)Life has given me the opportunity to experience different cultures and professional paths that led me to discover that no matter where I am or what I do, I always want to help.
The pandemic had a profound impact on me so I wanted to start making better choices for my life, including lowering the negative footprint I was creating with my clothing choices. I didn't know the true cost of what I was wearing. It took me a lot of time to figure out what to do: should I buy only secondhand clothes or is it ok to buy new items sustainably made (wait, what does "sustainable even mean"?), what am I supposed to do with the clothes that I don't wear anymore so they don't end up in landfills? Figuring all that out was exhausting, and I thought that if I was having that experience, other people would too. The easiest thing to do was nothing. But for me, that wasn't an option. I decided to create an online platform to help others become more responsible consumers withouth investing hours of their time and a ton of effort, just in seconds. Through my journey to become a more responsible consumer, I've understood that sustainability is not just about buying sustainable products, but actually about their full life cycle. If clothing takes so much resources and effort to make, we better make them as usefull as possible, for as long as possible. I'm a mom of two amazing little humans, who are my biggest motivations, because I strongly believe that we don't inherint the planet from our ancestors, but we borrow it from our kids. My goal is to make responsible consumption easy, so millions of people can do it and it becomes the new normal. I believe in progress over perfection and I invite all of you to start making small changes that multiplied by millions, will put all of us in a healthier path. Thank you for reading, you are all welcome to join our tribe! MariaResponsible Fashion Consumption
